Aldi will open its new grocery store near Windermere on Dec. 10. The discount grocer signed a 22,000-square-foot lease earlier this year.

Farmstead, which hopes to expand nationwide, is attracting new investment at a time when the company’s delivery service is resonating with customers. Month over month in 2020, Farmstead’s customer base has ballooned by double-digits.

There’s debate among advertising and grocery experts whether the lack of marketing will impact business for Kroger and its U.K.-based online-only grocer partner Ocado Solutions.

The company has more than 70 locations, stretching from the Sunshine State to New York.

The location was one of five leases the Lakeland company picked up from the niche grocer as part of a bankruptcy sale.

In retail, timing can be everything. Take, for example, GreenWise Market, the natural, organic and specialty format rolled out more than a decade ago by Lakeland, FLa.-based Publix Super Markets.
